Sheri had been wanting a new fireplace mantle. Our old mantle was a series of small bricks. I built the matle (made it longer and wider), and attached it to the old brick mantle. I then used some fluted mouldings to run up the sides. I used crown moulding around the mantle and at the top where the fireplace meets the ceiling. I trimmed the shelf with another moulding and it made the complete fireplace surround to appear to be a single unit. With leftover materials from this project, I built the tv cabinet
